Jake Batsell worked for more than a decade as a print journalist before learning to shoot and edit video as The Dallas Morning News Metro Desk’s “hybrid” reporter. Since joining SMU in 2008, he’s taught digital journalism, technology reporting, and investigative reporting while coordinating digital student media operations. His book, Engaged Journalism: Connecting with Digitally Empowered News Audiences, examines the changing relationship between journalists and the audiences they serve.


Dan Seaman

A digital media veteran, Dan has built his digital publishing career over the last 15 years. He’s held key strategy and leadership roles managing consumer products across enterprise divisions for big-name Canadian media groups like St. Joseph Media, Quebecor, TC Media, and The Globe and Mail. While there, he quickly established himself as a thought leader on the rise of mobile in media and marketing..
